I know it's politically correct to give women's football equal billing to men's, but time to be honest: the quality is dire.

It doesn't merit being shown on prime time television - but doubtless it will be, and doubtless the media will be leaping on the bandwagon and declaring how wonderful it all is. Well, news flash: it really isn't. Comment posted by tis4tennis, at 3 Aug tis4tennis. FA spent five time what the Dutch did for funding their national team.

What a waste of money. Comment posted by Dizzee69, at 3 Aug Dizzee Lots of complaints about 'sexism' here, but all seem to be based on fact. Women's football is NOT popular. They were getting crowds of less than 4, at most games.

Women's teams are not as strong as men's. There have been a couple of instances of highly-ranked women's national sides being thrashed by boy's U sides. Facts aren't sexist. Don't know why I watched it, knew the quality was going to be dire and it was. Hopefully the BBC will give it up now. Comment posted by starman, at 3 Aug starman. Loads of effort but no real class shown, poor passing and non existent tactics. Sad way to go out, thought the manager should have set them up better.

Comment posted by U, at 3 Aug U I know the BBC love to appear PC and 'progressive' but this really is a poor standard of football and has no place receiving such prominent mainstream coverage. I watched tonight's defeat and the quarter final against France and both were particularly wretched games of football. BBC - please dial back the coverage you're giving the women's game as the quality just doesn't warrant it. Comment posted by lillywhite , at 3 Aug lillywhite. Let's hope the PC brigade at the Beeb will now no longer ram women's footie down your throat Comment posted by Slim, at 3 Aug Slim.

This is in no way sexist but, if based on actual fan base alone, why does women's football get so much coverage on this website when sports like darts, which gets massive weekly crowds, gets only footnotes? Comment posted by davey bones, at 3 Aug davey bones. Fantastic result, we won't have to endure this pathetic spectacle any longer. Don't worry, proper football starts next week. The BBC hype and coverage for this has been unwarranted. The standard was really poor. Non league men's is of higher quality.

I don't want to offend anyone. But this is my opinion. Comment posted by El locos bucket, at 3 Aug El locos bucket.
