Not much stories on OM,but safe to say the bhagavad gita equates krishna with the parabrahman, the manifestation of om. Conversely, in Dvaita Vedanta and Vishistadvaita Vedanta traditions, the Param Brahma is defined as saguna brahman, i. Brahma is for creation, Vishnu for maintaining and Siva for destruction. Hence there is no meaning in comparing them. All the three put together make it complete. For example, the Dvaita school holds Vishnu alone to be the supreme God, with Shiva subordinate, and interprets the Puranas differently.
Thus, he evoked Lord Shiva to take his side. Shiva, confined to his abode along with his son Kartikeya, came to his aide. Krishna successfully defeated him. And Shiva has always been very much devoted to Lord Rama.
Hence we again see, both of them just cant exist without each other. So, let us respect both of them equally as an insult to one would cause an insult to other. This has been specifically mentioned in various Hindu Sanatana Religious texts also. In Ramacharitmanas Rama the incarnate of Lord Vishnu declares.. A mortal should thereby desist from comparing one with the other who are both equals.. Such sins are also not taken in good light by the lord. Meaning: Shiva is in the form of Vishnu, as Vishnu is in the form of Shiva.
Shiva is in the heart of Vishnu as Vishnu is in the heart of Shiva. It would be like asking one side of the coin to fight with the other. The ultimate aim of Hindu philosophy is to see oneness, not just in Shiva and Vishnu, but in all of universe. Then Vishnu prostrates before Shiva. In another instance, when Mother Parvathi asks Shiva that who is the entity, whom Shiva prays continuously, Shiva informs Her that He prays on the sacred name Rama.
Hanuman being an avatar of Shiva is the greatest devotee of Sri Rama. So, both revere each other and the secret lies in knowing that both are One. So anyhow Shiva and Vishnu are two facetsof the same Brahman. Hence, the battles are symbolic and no matter who wins, it signifies the invinciblity of Nirguna Brahman. This is with accordance with the Brahmasutra Bhasya of Shankaracharya.
Hope this clarifies. Again and again, repeatedly, in different languages, in different ways, the Wise keep telling us ordinary folk, who are liable to make mistake after mistake, that:. There is only ONE, without Another. Let us call it what we will. Paramatman, Shiva, Vishnu, Allah, Godhead, etc. The language and the form is the creation of our small and limited minds. Every thing and action of this manifested Universe is only a reflection of this ONE.
All the evils of this world. But again it is in the attempts to Conquer this ignorance and fear that the wonders of compassion and empathy are born. My perceiving and worshipping the IT in a spider at the corner of my room, is as stupendous as your worship of the IT as one among millions crowding in front of that vast stone monument.
Seeing that ONE in All is wisdom, and fearlessness. Not being able to see is ignorance and fear. Knowing that All is IT is the way of the Wise. Thinking that All is Apart from IT is the way of the foolish. Regarding all this reference to Sanskrit, Scriptures, the supposed battle at the Kumbha Mela, etc. They are invalid if they state different.
The interpretation and understanding of them is valid when they state the above truth. The interpretation and understanding of them are invalid if they do not stat this trurh. A wrong is a wrong. A right is a right. What to speak of comparison between Shiva and Vishnu. These days there are quarrels among the Vaishnavas themselves: some regard Vishnu as swayam-bhagvan while the others proclaim Krishna as supreme. The Devi Bhagawata Mahapurana suggests that Adi Parashakti is the original creator, observer and destroyer of the whole universe.
Shoonya Bindu, the divine zero feminine energy, which then expresses itself as prakriti Universal Nature. Hence Adi Parashakti is Parama Prakriti. Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari, the goddess of power and beauty, is considered as her saguna svarupa Manifested form. That is, Lalita Tripura Sundari is the truest material form of the Goddess, possessing the three qualities Sattva, rajas, or tamas.
She is the Great Goddess, and therefore the source of all other goddesses. Narahari Sonar was a staunch Shaiva sect which considers the god Shiva as the Supreme Being , who lived in Pandharpur, where the chief temple of Vithoba stands.
Vithoba is a form of the god Vishnu and the patron god of the Varkari sect, part of the Vishnu-worshipping Vaishnava sect and a rival sect of the Shaivas. Narahari Sonar worshipped at the Mallikarjuna temple, the Shiva temple located in the southwest part of the town.
He worshipped only one god, Shiva. He never visited the famous shrine of Vithoba even once and even refused to look at the shikhara pinnacle of the temple.
A merchant in some versions, a rich landlord had vowed if Vithoba blessed him with a son, he will offer a waistband to the deity. After fulfilment of the vow, the merchant enquired about the best goldsmith in Pandharpur and was led to Narahari Sonar.
Narahari agreed to make the waistband on the condition that he will not enter the temple and the merchant bring him the measurements of the stone image of Vithoba. He crafted an ornate waistband with the gold and jewels brought by the merchant and the provided measurements. The merchant offered the waistband to Vithoba, but it was too tight. As a Nivrutti-devotee, you should not keep the welfare of the world above God. The Veda says that nothing and nobody is even equal to God and not to speak of more than God Natatsamah….
In the earlier stage, try to serve Me adjusting yourself to the external atmosphere your family and society and the varying nature of mind. You should not hurt any soul for My sake and you should reach Me rejecting everything and everyone by not hurting anyone even a little.
You can adopt the method of dramatic action for this purpose like anesthesia in performing surgery, which is not a sin at all since I am the goal. Unity of Worldly Religions:. The unimaginable God gets mediated by different imaginable media items of imaginable creation becoming different mediated Gods of various worldly religions. The difference is only in the external imaginable media and not in the internal unimaginable God.
This is the unity in diversity. Is it not partiality of God to a specific country? The other religion says that their God created this earth and all the humanity on it. Then, why is this partiality of Divine Father to a specific country without reason? Good and bad people exist in every country. But, we answer this, removing the rubbed partiality on God. Our answer is—the unimaginable God came to every country in a specific imaginable medium and preached the same syllabus of spiritual knowledge in their languages.
Those, who followed the syllabus not language go to God and those who deviate from syllabus go to hell. By this, no injustice happened to anybody of any generation in any disconnected country due to lack communication. Hence, there is no partiality of the one unimaginable God! Every religion says that their God by virtue of a specific medium of God alone created this earth. Unfortunately, there is only one earth! That one God is the inner unimaginable God, who is not seen not even imagined by any religious soul since the soul sees only the different external media and gets clutched in the false concept of different Gods.
One can follow own religion, even in conservative way, without criticising other religions. Being in your own religion, you can affiliate to Universal Religion since both are complimentary to each other. Swami gave correlation of the Veda, the Bible and the Quran in detail as can be seen in the above referred website.
Mugunthan , Spritual Analyst. Answered Jun 3, Samudra manthan churning of the ocean milk regarded as Amritha the drink of immortality. There was a combat between Asuras and Devs , Asuras gained the control of universe so Devs seeked help of lord Vishnu.
He created some women to seduce Asuras. Devs gained the universe and Amritha , lord Vishnu himself was seduced by those women. Lord vishnu and those women gave birth to many sons these sons turned as evil and killed many sages. Answered Dec 17, God is only one. He is the most powerful driving force or positive energy to the entire Brahmanda. In Hinduism we must be so much grateful that we have many Gods.
One has a choice to select the God we like most devote and enhance our inner self more positively. Now, Shiva and Vishnu are same. Both are positive energies and are auspicious. You can devote yourself to any form you like most. In other words: shiva is vishnu. Shiva roopaya vishnuve - the one in shiva roopa is none other than vishnu. In other words: vishnu is shiva. Shivscha hrudayagam vishnu, vishnuscha hrudayagam shiva - vishnu resides in shiva's heart, and shiva resides in vishnu's heart.
Yatha shiva mayo vishnuhu, yevam vishnu mayah shiv - vishnu will be found in the same place you find shiva, and shiva can be found in the same place vishnu is. As is if you find one, you have found the other. Yathantaranna pashyami, thathatme swasthirayushi - we are one and the same. Jeevana Sai. Answered Aug 24, Actually both are same In the bhagavat geeta sri krishna told himself that he is parabramhan mahavishnu who is a sanatana the eternal being and at the time of destruction he himself is shiva And if you see the depiction of the viswaroop of lord as his main forms are present n which u can see that shiva is one of them It is said that those who cannot respect lord shiva can't be the real bhakth to lord vishnu as he is shiva himself Answered Dec 19, When it comes to "Power" then no doubt it is Shiva the most Powerful Answered Nov 19, Brahma Vishnu and Shiva are namely the creator the preserver and the destroyer they themselves maintain the balance and are supreme.
They have different roles and this universe cannot sustain without them. If u recall Ramayana lord ram prayed to lord Shiva near the river and lord hanuman was lord Shiva's form.
It is also said that lord Shiva meditates on lord ram. Abhishek Rana , programmer by choice. Answered Mar 23, Actually they both are one supreme power but with two different duties. One is the preserver while the other is the destroyer. Bala Krishnan Siva. Henotheism, a word coined originally by F. Schelling was used by Max Muller later in his interpretation of the evolution in Hindu concept of God. Henotheism-tossing of Gods, accommodates well within itself monotheism, monism and even non-dualism of Adi Sankara.
Of late this term is replaced by monolatry, a perspective wherein one God being central, wherein all other gods are given more than sufficient space to loiter. So depending upon the context and coherence theory of truth supported by set of beliefs rooted in individual immediate intuitive non-sensible experiences, each God feels at ease with his devotees, though at constant mortal fear from adversaries. The juxtaposition of the wise saying-devanam maanusha rupena with Indian history, I could deduce thus Vaishnava Seva Dasa.
Everything emanates from Me. The wise who know this perfectly engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts. Yogurt is nothing but transformed milk; nonetheless, yogurt cannot be accepted as milk.
Answered Feb 11, They deputed Bhrigu Muni to investigate the matter. Next Bhrigu went to Lord Shiva, his older brother, who rose from his seat to embrace him.
But Bhrigu rejected the embrace, calling Shiva a deviant heretic. Going up to the Lord, who was lying with His head on the lap of the goddess of fortune, Bhrigu kicked His chest. But instead of becoming angry, both the Lord and His consort stood up and offered Bhrigu respects. Kindly forgive us, dear master, for not noticing your arrival. But in fact when Bhrgu Muni kicked the chest of Lord Visnu it was the greatest offense, although Lord Visnu, being greatly magnanimous, did not take it very seriously.
So when such great personalities like Bhrigu Muni, Parashara Muni, Vasistha, and Atreya, are so much contaminated, what to speak of others? How they will understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead by mental speculation? It is not possible for them to understand God.
Only the devotees can understand what is the actual identification of the Absolute Truth. Nandita Sadhya. People quoting that Bhagwatam proves Krishna is greatest, so dear friends we have Shiv Puran, Linga Puran etc to give you a tough competition. So, there is only one way to know the answer. Meditate on the Ishta whom your heart calls, as he will reveal himself to you then ask him this question.
Pradip Gangopadhyay , Seeker of Truth. Updated Jan Well-adored by the Rishis, by Brahma, and by all the deities, that great God, the Lord of the universe, otherwise called by the name of Hari, then addressed the illustrious Isana and said these words:- He that knows thee, knows me. He that follows thee, follows me. There is no difference between thee and me.
Do thou never think otherwise. Answered Jan 15, The original founders of the religions were the human incarnations of the same God like Krishna, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha etc. Every religion says that their God only created this entire earth or this entire humanity. Unfortunately, there is only one earth and this proves that there is only one God mentioned by all the religions.
Since God is one and the same, there cannot be contradicting concepts between the religions. But we find some contradictions and people are divided based on these contradictions. This division is leading to quarrels and finally killing each other. These contradictions cannot be from God because there is only one God as said above. These contradictions were introduced into the religions by some misinterpretations of the followers only in the name of God. Hence the killing is also done in the name of God only.
It is left to him to follow or not. Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyakashipu not because he is worshipping Lord Shiva but because he tortured Prahlada to change his religion of worshipping Vishnu. The conclusion of this is that God will punish you if you torture the devotee of any religion obstructing the freedom of his religion. Prahlada did not force his father to worship Vishnu. The same God exists in different forms in different religions.
Hinduism is a mini model of unity in diversity that should exist in the universe as universal spirituality.
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are said to be equal. This means that the qualities that they represent are also equal. Brahma is for creation, Vishnu for maintaining and Siva for destruction. It is generally described as 'Srishti', 'Sthidhi'and 'Samhara'. Hence there is no meaning in comparing them. All the three put together make it complete.
First creation, then looking after the creature and finally its death are the true situation. Points: 0. In Shivamahapuraan, it is described by Lord Shiva that one who will make difference between me Lord Shiva , Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma, he will never get joys in his life. Lord Shiva says that All Gods are one.
All the divine entities are actually one but they have adopted different faces only for different purpose, like Lord Brahma creates world, Lord Vishnu nurse them and take their care and at the end of their life cycle, Lord Shiva calls them to him.
So I request you with great humble to please stop deciding the most powerful God and worship any form of God with full faith and devotion. Points: 3. Dear, word GOD is not a single word only it have it's own meaning which includes all aspects of a life.
